Asher Haynes didn t think his junior year could get much exciting his teacher did try to kill him Now Archer is having dreams and this time it s about the Dark Prince closing the gates of Heaven and trapping Heaven s warriors out creating a world where darkness rules With a Category 3 hurricane uickly arriving Asher can t count on the protection of Luke and Drew and demons are attacking him every time he turns around It s up to Asher and Maclaine to open the gate at Narthex Academy and save the world No big deal rightAh the South Unless you live in it you really can t appreciate its charm Oh wait you can All you have to do is pick up one of Jennifer Tubbiolo s books Seriously she does South Carolina justice and adds a little paranormal flare that could keep even the most reluctant reader interested I feel like I need to make a trip to Mount Pleasant every time I read about Asher s adventures and carry my books with me Beach read mountain read rainy day read I suggest these I enjoyed Dreamer so much and it even made it onto my list of favorite books of the year yes I plan ahead Speaker did have a little bit of a slower start for me but I got to see of Jackson in this installment Asher s best friend didn t have as big of a presence in the first book because they had just met but he was one of my favorite characters in Speaker I can t wait to finish the novella and learn about him as well as get my hands on a copy of the third book to see how she concludes the series Where were these boys when I was in high school Seriously were they all hiding in an elite academy in the low state Nevertheless I particularly like that all the books are in Asher s point of view and that the hero easily makes a difficult situation light hearted and enjoyable without negating the seriousness of what is taking place Asher continued to be a great leader in Speaker but he wasn t afraid to take criticism from those trying to help him That being said the new addition Tahani added even girl power to the story as if Maclaine hadn t already raised the bar If you ever can get to one of Jennifer Tubbiolo s book signings I highly suggest it Tubbiolo combines Christian fiction with a hint of paranormal that ceases to amaze me I have no doubt that these books will create their own spot on bookshelves everywhere
