I found Tunnel Vision to be an interesting read if sometimes a bit challenging The blend of the two genres critical essays and personal memoirs was at first uite jarring to read but I uickly got into the rhythm of enjoying it The critiue side of the book is fantastic with wonderful measured explorations of an ecletic collection of artists and writers The memoir side of the work is stark and honest though didn t seem to culminate in any form of bigger picture or point which left it feeling a bit hollow The book excels however in the way the memoirs feed from the themes of the previous critiue piece subtely and sometimes not so subtely tying together threads of discussion about art into Breathnach s own experiences and relationships This together with the playful approach to layout and form made the book as a whole an enjoyable experience
