Ağrı'nın Derinliği Summary ☆ E-book, or Kindle E-pub Bu kitap ne sadece Ermenilere ne de sadece Türkleredir Ağrı'nın Derinliği evsiz kalmanın evinden uzak düşmenin acısını bilen tahmin edebilen herkese yazılmıştırAidiyetimizin bize ezberlettiklerinin Ece Temelkuran s Deep Mountain is discussing the Armenian genocide and its conseuences at a personal human to human level leaving the politics only in the background Interviewing people in Armenia and Armenian diaspora in France and the US she is showing the similarities of individual stories but also the differences among them What is striking is that Temelkuran is treated very differently depending where in the world she isThe book is a succeeded effort of bringing Armenians and Turks together around a table to discuss what they feel about each other but importantly why they feel that way But the story is unfinished The book ends with an invitation for each and everyone to start their own journey to get to know the other Reading the book as an Armenian many of my important uestions were answered How do Turks perceive the genocide Why is it so difficult for them to use the term genocide What is it like at an individual not collective level Many aspects of these answers were eye opening Yes there are Turks who know that the genocide has happened but they feel numb Why is it so This numbness is also discussed in the book Importantly it is striking how women are open for a dialogue and less hostile than men Women are eager to tell stories and to connect And maybe that s where everything should start from Armenian women talking to Turkish womenIn the end you confirm your prior beliefs there is the political but there is also the personal And while there is little you can do at political level there is a lot that can be done at a personal level And there I go it is time for my own journey
